The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the winner of the Ghana Premier League 2023/24 will receive GHC 500,000, equivalent to $43,000 at the current exchange rate.
This is a more than 60% increase over the initial GHc300,000 prize money received by Medeama SC when they won the title last season.
The runner-up team will receive GHc200,000, the third-place team will receive GHc100,000, and the fourth team will receive GHc80,000.
Aside from increasing the prize money for league winners, the GFA president stated that the top ten teams will also be rewarded.
The FA has also allocated $35,000 as a support fund for both male and female clubs to represent Ghana in African competitions.
Over the past decade, the amount has remained at $30,000.
GFA President Kurt Okraku made the announcement on Tuesday at the launch of the upcoming league at the Eastern Premier Hotel in Koforidua.
