The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called off the planned September 2, 2023, run-off intended to break the tie between Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai-Nimo.
The party arrived at the decision after Boakye Agyarko withdrew from the race.
The former Energy Minister withdrew from the race, claiming that the decision by the party to allow only National Council members to vote in the run-off was unconstitutional.
Mr. Agyarko said he would not want to be part of a process that was in breach of the party’s constitution.
The party has therefore called off the September 2 race.
Given that, the race will now be between Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawunia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimo.
