The Minority in Parliament has suspended its planned protest against Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
The Minority suspended the protest following the decision by the court hearing the injunction application filed by the Police to adjourn the sitting to September 8, 2023, to rule on a preliminary objection raised by counsel for the Minority, lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe.
The lawyer argued that per Article 88(5) of the 1992 Constitution and the State Proceedings Act, it is only the Attorney General that can institute the instant action.
The court adjourned a ruling on a preliminary objection raised by MPs’ lawyers to Friday, September 8, following a police application to injunct the protest over security concerns.
Meanwhile, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, has assured supporters that a protest will be held after the court’s ruling.
