Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has denied any political motives or favouritism in his appointment to the Ghana Police Service.
He stated that his rise to the rank was due to hard work and not favouritism.
Dr. Dampare was shocked to learn that he was not qualified to be IGP and had mismanaged the service.
He cited testimonies from three senior officers who made the allegations, stating they denigrated the service and disgraced themselves.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare also made a formal request for the three implicated senior police officers to be excluded from the proceedings during his testimony in the ongoing leaked tape probe.
His lawyer, Kwame Gyan, made a strong case for the IGP stressing that the request was aimed at ensuring a fair and impartial examination of the evidence.
He believes that their presence may influence the proceedings and affect the integrity of the investigation.
But the Committee led by lawyer Atta Akyea overruled the objections stressing that the presence of the three other witnesses was inconsequential.
