Delanyo Agbe, the member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who petitioned the party to review the appointment of Dr. Omane Boamah as the Director of Elections and IT has slammed Ningo-Prampram MP, Sam George, for trivialising his petition.
In a petition letter to the leadership of the party, Agbe had argued that Dr. Omane Boamah lacks the expertise necessary to execute his duties effectively.
In his petition, he noted that Dr. Omane Boamah lacks, in executing his duties for the party to win the 2024 polls.
He also argued that the former communication minister lacks expertise stressing that election management and ICT are critical components of modern political campaigning.
“Dr. Omane Boamah’s medical background, while noteworthy, does not seem to align with the intricate technicalities of information and communication technology and the complexities of electoral processes.”
But reacting to the petition, Sam George stressed that the “baseless” petition has the potential to derail the appointee’s attention from the task ahead.
The Deputy Ranking Member of the Select Committee on Communications in a letter to the Council of Elders of the party on Monday, September 18, asked the petitioner to withdraw his petition and come on board for the party to recapture power in the 2024 general elections.
“I urge you to dismiss the said petition with alacrity as it has the propensity to shift the focus of the appointee from the solemn task we have handed him.
“Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah is an asset to our great tradition, and we must use this as an example that our Party appreciates the sacrifice of young people and truly believes in their abilities to deliver whenever the need arises.”
“I am a young man deeply connected to the ‘streets of Ghana’, and I can assure you that the appointee is the best choice at this given time
Reacting through an open letter, the petitioner admonished the MP to allow the structures of the party to deal with the matter.
“I respect your role as a Member of Parliament and your dedication to representing the people of Ningo-Prampram Constituency. However, I would like to respectfully remind you that my petition concerns party matters, and I believe it is crucial to maintain a clear distinction between party affairs and parliamentary duties. The party’s internal discussions should be approached with the requisite decorum and respect for established party structures.”
“I kindly request that you allow the Council of Elders to perform their duty in evaluating the concerns raised in my petition objectively.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. I remain hopeful that our shared dedication to the NDC’s success will guide us in navigating such deliberations respectfully and constructively.”

Open Letter to Sam George MP
Request for Respectful Consideration of the Council of Elders’ Decision on the Review of Omane Boamah’s Appointment
Dear Sam George,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to you in response to your recent counter-petition regarding my appeal to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders for a review of Dr. Omane Boamah’s appointment as Director of Elections and ICT.
While I appreciate the democratic nature of discourse within our party, I would like to express my sincere concern about your involvement in a matter that, in essence, is beyond your immediate purview as the Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. The call for a review of Dr. Boamah’s appointment is not just a matter of party politics; it is a reflection of a broader concern for the effectiveness and strategic direction of the NDC.
The essence of our democratic structure is to ensure that each member’s voice is heard and considered in critical party decisions. I presented my petition to the Council of Elders in good faith, aiming to contribute positively to the party’s growth and effectiveness. I firmly believe that our esteemed Council of Elders, given their experience and wisdom, is best suited to evaluate the merits and demerits of my concerns.
I respect your role as a Member of Parliament and your dedication to representing the people of the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. However, I would like to respectfully remind you that my petition concerns party matters, and I believe it is crucial to maintain a clear distinction between party affairs and parliamentary duties. The party’s internal discussions should be approached with the requisite decorum and respect for established party structures.
I kindly request that you allow the Council of Elders to perform their duty in evaluating the concerns raised in my petition objectively.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. I remain hopeful that our shared dedication to the NDC’s success will guide us in navigating such deliberations respectfully and constructively.
