Political analyst Alex Emmanuel Nti says the decision by Alan Kyerematen to contest as an independent candidate will be a threat to both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He says the party that will emerge as the winner of the 2024 general elections will not win by a one-touch victory.

He opined that Alan Kyerematen will be the decider for the party that emerges as the winner of the presidential election.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he claimed Alan Cash, as he is affectionately called, could get between 5-8 per cent of the votes in 2024.

According to him, the former trade and industry minister has grassroots support; hence, it would be politically unwise for any of the parties to ridicule him and downplay his political influence.

“Alan’s resignation is a threat to the NPP because he has a support base and could get about 5% of that support base,” Alex Emmanuel Nti stated. He may also receive a percentage of votes from swing voters. The majority of these people could be NPP members. His resignation will jeopardise the NPP’s chances.

When it comes to elections in politics, having a good strategy is essential. He needs to develop a better approach to have an impact. He should be firm and hardworking, and we might finally have the third force we’ve been looking for. He will be the deciding factor in the 2024 presidential election. It is tough to achieve a one-touch triumph, particularly when a party has served two terms and is facing an election. Alan has a stronger appeal with floating voters, thus he will be the deciding factor in the 2024 elections. If he does not win the election, he will be the one to decide who will be the next President.”
