An 85-year-old woman was brutally attacked after she was accused of being a witch at Enyan Ankukrom in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.
The victim, identified as Abena Kyere, was accused of being a witch by Adwoa Adensa, a 55-year-old woman in the community.
The 55-year-old woman had consistently accused the victim of being responsible for the death of her son, who died some years ago.
Reports indicate that the victim was at her home when the suspect went without asking her anything and started assaulting her with a machete.
It took the intervention of some relatives to rescue the victim.
In an interview with the media, some of the family members of the victim accused the suspect of threatening to kill the old woman.
The suspect is currently on the run, and the family has reported the incident.
They have also accused the police of professional misconduct.
According to them, when they reported the incident, the police asked why they did not apprehend the suspect and bring her to the station.
The family has since admonished the police to deal with the matter and put the suspect behind bars.
