Traders in Kumasi have expressed their disappointment in the NPP government over the abandoned developmental projects in the region, especially the Kejetia-Central Market Phase 2 project.
Speaking at a press conference, the traders expressed their displeasure, saying this government has failed in its promises to them.
An executive member of the combined traders in Kumasi, Mr. Sarfo Kantanka, said that ever since the fire incident happened at the Kejetia market, which destroyed several properties of their members, nothing has been done for the affected victims.
Speaking on the Kejetia Central Market Project, he said that ever since phase one of the three phases of the project was completed, with its accompanying problems of electricity connectivity to date, no attention has been paid to the other two phases.
He also took a swipe at the 47 MPs in the region, lamenting that rvsu has also failed the region.
In his view, the MPs have not demonstrated any commitment to ensuring that the developmental projects promised to the region are completed.
Some of the abandoned projects, he said, include the Krofrom market project and the Okomfo Anokye maternity block project.
He said, “Since the fire outbreak, we have complained to the leaders who came to examine the situation. But nothing has been done to support the affected victims. The affected victims are still struggling. The Vice President pledged, but his pledge was yet to be fulfilled.
We complained about the current state of the market after the outbreak, but we have been neglected. The Vice President told us the government will work on the area where the fire outbreak hit. We want to know when they will. repair the damaged market.
We would like to make another appeal to the authorities to address our concerns. They only came here to build gutters in Kumasi when it was election season. Before the Pokuase Interchange began, we discussed the Suame Interchange.
“We don’t support anyone, but we will vote for anyone who will represent our interests,” he continued. We would also make a plea to President Akufo-Addo. We require someone with vision and the potential to alter our region as well as Ghana as a nation. We need a candidate who wants to change people’s lives.”
