National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah says the spread of false narratives or disinformation via social media platforms poses a significant threat to Ghana’s security.
As a result, he emphasised the importance of the country taking notice of the problem and addressing it.
The remarks were delivered by the minister while addressing a symposium on the Impact of Disinformation on Electoral Integrity, Peace, and Security in Africa.
“Following the coup in Niger, certain individuals in the academia, civil society, and the media you must have observed have been propagating false narratives in support of a coup or military rule.”
And let me repeat that today from where I sit, I can confidently say that this information is one of the major security challenges that I have to confront on a daily basis,” he stated.”
