Some residents and landlords have demonstrated against the activities of suspected landguards in Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East Central Region.
The angry residents with red armbands chanting war songs described the activities of these handguards as criminal.
They alleged that these people extort money from them using dubious means.
According to them, these activities threaten their lives, and they want them to stop immediately.
At a press conference, the reaudnwtaband landlords revealed that the notorious land guards go to the extent of collecting painting fees, plastering fees, roofing fees, tiling fees, and POP fees, a situation they described as worrying.
Speaking to Rainbow Radio’s Oheneba Ademah, Mr. Bartholomew Narh, said all efforts made at the Gomoa East District Assembly and Chiefs of the Area to curb the situation yielded no positive results, hence calling on the IGP Cops Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and Akuffo Addo to come to their aid immediately before the situation escalates.
Some residents who have suffered at the hands of these notorious land guards gave the government a one-month ultimatum to curb the notorious activities for peace to prevail in the area.
“We are going to arm ourselves and match the notorious land guards boot for boot if the IGP and President Akuffo Addo refuse to do something about the worrying situation immediately.”
