The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made all four aspirants in the presidential primary sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ahead of the November 4, 2023 contest.
The four aspirants, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and Addai Nimo, agreed that they are committed to the principles of democracy, unity, and peace within the NPP and recognise the importance of conducting a peaceful, free, and fair primary election to select the NPP’s presidential candidate for the 2024elections.
They have also agreed to remain committed to maintaining the cohesion of the NPP, ensuring its success in the 2024 elections, and securing a working majority in the next Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.
The aspirants further signed to accept the results and final outcome of the primary.
“We commit ourselves to accepting the results of the November 4, 2023, presidential primary election of the NPP, and we will respect the outcome irrespective of the result.”
The four agreed to ensure peace and cohesion within the NPP before, during, and after the 2024 primary.
The aspirants agreed not to resign from the party should they lose the presidential race but rather to support the elected candidate and help the party win the 2024 election.
