Dr. Yao Yeboah, a parliamentary candidate for Dormaa Central Consistency, has claimed that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best person to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 elections.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will elect the 4th flagbearer in the history of their party on Saturday, November 4, 2023, between Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and former Ashanti Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh.
With Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong emerging as the two frontrunners ahead of the elections, Dr. Yao Yeboah, who is also hoping to contest in the 2024 Parliamentary elections on the ticket of the NPP, said Dr. Bawumia is the obvious candidate to break the 8.
“We have four people contesting to lead the party in the 2024 elections, and I can say that Dr. Bawumia is the best candidate amongst all the competitors. He is unique amongst all of them.
“He is a Muslim but recognises the Christian religion, and that is a plus for Ghana. It is true that a vice president has power, but his power does not supersede that of the president, and even though they are ruling the country together, he will do things in his own way, and that is why we should vote for him to lead the party,” he said as aired on Rainbow Radio Accra.
The winner of the NPP’s November 4 elections will be the party’s fourth flagbearer in history after Professor Adu Boahen, John Agyekum Kufour, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
