Assin Central: Residents threaten to boycott or vote ‘skirt and blouse’ over Ken’s defeat

November 7, 2023

Some residents of the Central Region, particularly Assin Central, have expressed disappointment at the NPP delegates’ decision to vote for Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia instead of Kennedy Agyapong.

The residents claimed the Assin Central MP was the best candidate, and they believed he had what it takes to manage Ghana better.

Speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio, the residents say Kennedy Agyapong is the only one who could restore the lost hope in the country amid economic difficulties and a high unemployment rate.

They have therefore threatened to vote skirt and blouse in the 2024 general elections against the NPP, while some others have also vowed not to vote.

Some others argued that President Akufo-Addo supported Dr. Bawumia, so if he is elected, he will pull the strings behind him.

“Kennedy Agyapong has struggled for the NPP, and yet they could not reward him for his sacrifices. I will not vote in the 2024 general elections,” a resident said.

Another said, “I have no trust in Bawumia. This current government is corrupt; it has engaged in theft, corruption, and mismanagement. They want to continue to steal, and that is why they have brought Bawumia. All the ministers and other appointees supported Bawunia because they wanted to continue their stealing. Kennedy Agyapong is not like them. and so they do not want him to lead them”.

“I am a dedicated member of the NPP and worked for the party. I have my certificate with me. I have worked for the NPP since 2015, and I know what I’m talking about. Without Kennedy, I will not vote in the general elections”, a mother told the news team.

A trader who also expressed her disappointment said the economic situation in the country was unbearable, adding that Ghanaians are unable to buy as they used to.

“We are struggling as a youth. I have decided not to vote in the elections. People are no longer buying like they used to in the past; Ghanaians are struggling, especially the youth.”
