Political analyst Michael Ebo Amoah says Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has a lot of work to do in uniting the party and securing victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after emerging as a presidential candidate.

He said he also has a doubting task in bringing Kennedy Agyapong on board, electing a good running mate, and also convincing Ghanaians that he will do better.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, the lecturer explained that campaigning in the 2024 presidential election is not going to be an easy thing for the governing NPP.

He went on to say that the newly elected candidate must unite the party and ensure that all disgruntled members are brought on board.

He believes he must also bring on board the Alan Kyerematen faction, adding that ”those who believe Alan’s decision to resign from the NPP will not affect the party are mistaken. Even if Alan only takes 1%, there will be a problem. So it will be a difficult task for the two major parties,” he said in response to a question about the challenges that the NDC and NPP candidates will face.

”The election is very difficult for the NPP, and in the same way, the NDC will face a challenge because the NDC candidate can only serve one term, and we have seen his performance in the past. In reality, someone who has done eight years is said to have failed, so what can someone coming to spend four years do?” Ghana is at a crossroads on both sides.
