The Ghana Football Association has reportedly decided to part ways with Chris Hughton as the Black Stars coach.

According to a report filed by Assase Radio’s Atsu Tamakloe, the decision has already been taken that Chris Hughton will not be in the dugout for the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.

He claimed that Chris Hughton’s fate will be finalised at the upcoming GFA Executive Council Meeting on Friday, November 10, 2023.

“The fate of Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has been decided by the GFA. The decision is to sack him at Friday’s Exco meeting. They are just awaiting approval from gov’t first, because any compensation will come from them.”

“That approval, or otherwise, will be communicated today, Thursday. He has a contract until February 2024. Close sources to Hughton say the manager is aware of the decision.”

“The GFA top brass is not convinced Hughton can win the two World Cup qualifying matches against Madagascar and Comoros, and without those victories, qualifying for 2026 would be difficult.”

“If it were just about the AFCON alone, they would have left him in charge. Assistant coach George Boateng will be put in temporary charge if and when the decision is finally made official,” the report cited by Rainbow Radio Sports read.
