Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire has accepted an apology rendered by Ghanaian legislator Isaac Adongo for comparing him to Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In December 2022, the MP criticised the Vice President for his poor performance and compared him to the Manchester United defender.
He compared him, saying just like the player was facing heavy criticism from fans for his subpar performances, including some own goals.
He has, however, issued an apology, stating that while the player is now performing incredibly well, Ghana’s vice president continues to underperform.
During Friday’s budget deliberations, Isaac Adongo jokingly apologised to the English defender.
He added that the player had improved, but Bawumia was still incompetently managing the country’s economy, causing the government to seek a $3 billion bailout from the IMF.
In a tweet on X, the footballer stated that he accepts the apology and expects to meet Rye MP at Old Trafford soon.
“MP Isaac Adongo apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon” Harry Maguire posted.
