The government of Ghana announced the reintroduction of the visa-on-arrival for passengers to Ghana during this festive season.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Transport Ministry.
According to the Ministry, the decision was made in consultation with the Foreign Affairs, Interior, Tourism Ministries, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah in a letter addressed to all the airlines said the initiative commences from Friday, December 1 to Sunday, January 14.
“Consequently, it would be appreciated if systems are updated to reflect this new arrangement and those responsible for checking-in passengers traveling to Ghana advised not to insist on entry visas prior to their boarding,” portions of the statement read.
He indicated the move is to support the government’s 10-year project “Beyond The Return”, which gives Africans in the diaspora the opportunity to “connect with their roots.”
