Francis Larbie, a 30-year-old mobile money vendor, has committed suicide by hanging at Awutu Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region due to a GH15,000 debt.
Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM learned that the young man was discovered hanging in his room by his wife.
According to the story, Francis Larbie was employed as a mobile money vendor by his employer.
The young man, however, was duped by mobile fraudsters who contacted and informed him his sister in the United Kingdom had sent him some stuff and he needed to come pick them up.
He lost GHC 15,000 of the company’s capital in the process.
He informed his boss of the incident and was requested to repay the money.
The boss is reported to have put pressure on Francis, alleging that he had taken out a loan for his firm and needed to pay it back.
Rainbow Radio’s Oheneba Ademah said from the scene that the boss repeatedly called the Francis’ wife while she was in church on Wednesday, demanding his money.
The wife went outside and called the husband numerous times, but he did not answer.
She then returned home, only to enter the room and discover her husband hanging.
Francis Larbie is alleged to have committed suicide by hanging himself with a sponge.
Meanwhile, the bereaved family has stated that they would not pay the money owing to the boss because his pressure caused the young man to commit suicide.
