President Akufo-Addo has expressed strong optimism that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will go into the 2024 general elections and emerge victorious.
The president, who admitted that the elections in 2024 would be difficult, indicated that the party, with the help of the Almighty God, would break the eight-year jinx.
He described Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a worthy presidential candidate who will lead the party towards victory in 2024.
These comments were captured in a statement he issued to congratulate the parliamentary aspirants elected in the orphan constituencies over the weekend during the party’s primaries.
He said that through this free, fair, transparent, and well-organised process, the party shall maintain a united front, and under the leadership of the presidential candidate, they will emerge victorious in 2024.
“Through this, we shall create the united, formidable front that, under the leadership of our new, worthy presidential candidate, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will enable us to go into the difficult 2024 elections with quiet confidence, and, with the help of Almighty God, Break the Eight, which is the fervent wish of all NPP members, and, indeed, of all well-meaning Ghanaians.”
To the winners of the orphan constituency primaries, he asked them to be magnanimous in their celebrations.
He also asked them to work hard to bring onboard those who were not successful.
