Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited has suspended the shutdown of its plant for one week.
According to the company, the decision to suspend the shut down is “in view of the intervention and assurance of the Minister of Finance and Minister of State.”
The company had earlier issued a statement informing the public of it’s intention to shut down over debt.
The independent power producer declared the indefinite suspension of its 560MW facility, effectively ceasing operations.
It stated that the decision was made due to the government’s failure to meet its financial responsibilities to the power plant’s management.
But in another statement issued on Monday evening, it said, “Kindly confirm our understanding that we shall be paid an interim sum of $60 million in two tranches. The first tranche $30 million to be paid this week and the second tranche in the week of 11th December 2023.”Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited has suspended the shutdown of its plant for one week.
