Tyrone Iras Marhguy, one of the students who was refused admission into the Achimota Secondary School and subsequently gained admission after a court order in 2021, has excelled in the just-ended West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
He scored 8 As in the 2023 edition of the examination.
A transcript of his results has gone viral on social media, with several individuals discussing him.
There is also a video of him and some other people jubilating after he checked his results online.
Tyrone Marhguy was one of two boys who dragged the Achimota School, the Minister of Education, the Ghana Education Service, and the Attorney General to court for refusing to enrol them.
Achimota School insisted that they comply with the school’s regulations by shaving their dreadlocks.
The Achimota School denied them admission, citing their hairstyle as a violation of the school’s code of conduct.
But the High Court on May 31, 2021, directed the school to admit the students.
