The Atebubu Court is the first High Court to serve the people of the Bono East region.

At a durber to commission the court facility built by the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly using domestically generated funds, IGF, the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Araba Torkornoo, stated that the bright perception of corruption in justice delivery is cause for concern.

She cautioned anyone who do so to stop or they will face her wrath.

She also urged them to be professional, fair, and just in order for Ghanaians to have faith in the legal system.

According to her, perceived corruption is one of the reasons why some people fail to use the court system to handle their problems.

She mentioned the issue of land guards as one of the risks to our society since some individuals do not trust the court to deal with legal concerns.

The Chief Justice went on to say that because court service employees agreed to work under the terms of their appointment letters, they should not extort money from people.

“I urge you to live up to the highest ideals of the law. Let all who come here feel welcomed and reassured that the law is here to work for and with them. Let no one feel reluctant or discouraged to use the law,” she noted.

She emphasised that Ghana will be more peaceful if court personnel act ethically and professionally.

Meanwhile, she named Atebubu-Amantin MCE Edward Owusu the Man of the Year for leveraging the IGF to construct the Court Building Complex.

She praised the MCE’s leadership and expressed gratitude for his choice to invest in the courthouse.

Mr Edward Owusu, the pleased MCE, observed that individuals from Atebubu, Kwame Danso, Yeji, and the rest will have to travel more than 45 km before receiving High Court services from either Sunyani or Wenchi, which was his rationale for using the IGF for the construction.
