President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he remains confident that he will leave Ghana in better shape before handing over in 2025.
He has therefore pledged to build a prosperous country and improve the living conditions of all before his tenure ends.
He made the remarks at the annual Jubilee House thanksgiving service in Accra on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
“At the end of my time in office, as it nears, or be it with one year to go, I am still optimistic and determined, with the support of the Ghanaian people and the guidance of the Almighty God, I am confident that we will achieve our goal of creating a progressive and prosperous Ghana for all.”
“It is a mission that requires not only political understanding but also heavenly inspiration and grace,” he stated.
“The past year has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and moments that have tested our country’s resolve.
Through it all, God’s hand has guided us, and we stand now united and stronger than ever. In times of turmoil and uncertainty, our religion supports us. Our faith in a higher power gives us courage and perseverance to face the unknown.
“As we begin this new year, I am reminded of the words in the holy scripture in Psalms 46:1which read: God is our refuge and strength and ever-present help in times of trouble. Indeed, Ghana has come thus far by His Grace, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our country,” President Akufo-Addo said.
In his sermon, Most Rev Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, Primate, Metropolitan Archbishop CPWA, and Archbishop of Mampong stated that God will fulfil all of his promises to the people of Ghana despite the severe hardships the country has faced in recent years.
“Your Excellency, as you enter the final year of your term as President, the Lord’s promises to you and the people of Ghana will come to pass, it will be fulfilled. As you begin 2024 and we perform this thanksgiving ceremony, may we be faithful to God, may we be faithful to ourselves, and may we be faithful to Ghana” Most Rev Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith said.
