Fire destroyed approximately 20 containers at Kasoa New Market near the Datus International School in the Awutu Senya East Municipality in the Central Region.
According to the information gathered, the fire was started by a defective refrigerator, which eventually spread to other establishments nearby.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire began at 1pm, but the fire brigade arrived late, inflicting tremendous damage.
Fortunately, no one was wounded. The impacted shops include hairdressing containers, sewing containers, décor containers, a TV repair shop, a provision shop, and a sachet water retail shop.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Fire ADO1 Charles Nanoyere, Operations Fire Officer at Budumbram Fire Station, he rejected reports that the fire service arrived at the scene two hours late.
He did, however, add that they arrived around 30 minutes after receiving the report, but the fire was still active, so they tactically prevented it from spreading to adjacent shops before extinguishing it. The fire was completely extinguished at 4:30pm.
Some affected apprentices who talked in an interview requested that Kasoa MP Mavis Hawa Koomson come to their aid because all of their machines had been burned and nothing remained.
