Diana Hamilton, a Ghanaian gospel musician, believes that creating a hit or popular song as a gospel musician should not put the musician on top, but rather the God in the person.
The singer stated that when God gives musicians the talent of releasing songs that bless people and link them with their creator, the musician should not take credit for the tune.
“If you release a song and it blesses someone, it doesn’t place you (the musician) on top. It places God in you on top.”
She was responding to a question on whether she sees herself as a musician on top.
In her response, she stated that she does see herself as a musician on top, since that recognition is only reserved for God.
She appreciates being recognised as one of the top musicians in the country by industry critics and analysts.
However, she thinks the feeling of being at the top is a state of mind, adding that when you see yourself at the top, it will dawn on you.
But if you agree that God is still working on you and you are a work in progress, you can’t be at the top unless you meet God on the day he will come.
This is a phase, and God can take you further, so you will not be comfortable where you are.
That’s me. I don’t know if I am really at the top.
When people say I am at the top, I will only thank God, which I do all the time. We are striving to be like God, who is at the top. So it is a process,” she told Sokoohemaa Kukua in an interview on the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.
