Giving Bawumia a fair hearing is the best we can do; he cannot be blamed for the abysmal performance of Nana Addo – Analyst

A political strategist William Owusu Ansah suggests that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia can escape the underperformance of President Akufo-Addo.

Contrary to suggestions by some people that he could not extricate himself, the opposite was the truth, he said.

Dr. Bawumia is not the president and is not responsible for making critical decisions in the country’s management.

He told Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM that all the campaign promises Dr. Bawumia outlined, including moving the country from taxation to production, which has failed and seen several taxes introduced under this government, cannot be blamed on the Vice President.

He argued that whatever the Vice President said during the campaign period was on the mind of President Akufo-Addo.

He therefore agreed with those who have asked Ghanaians to give him a fair hearing.

He said Dr. Bawumia would be his own man with his own vision for the country if he were elected president, hence the need for Ghanaians to give him a fair hearing.

“Bawunia can extricate himself from what has happened. When people refer to the things he said in the past, he can have the excuse that he was campaigning for his presidential candidate. He was not the one in charge. But he is now vying to become president and will be in charge of his own vision. And so, we have to give him a fair hearing.

Every president has their own idea and vision, and now that he is here, he will have his own way of managing the economy and doing things better. He can also tell Ghanaians that although he campaigned on the economy, he was not in charge but will be in charge now if elected, and so Ghanaians should try him also.”

Meanwhile, he has advised him to use the planned address slated for February 7, 2024, to outline issues that will convince Ghanaians to trust him.

He said this government has already performed poorly, and the system is broken in all sectors, so Bawumia has a responsibility to convince Ghanaians that his vision can help transform the country.

Mr. Owusu Ansah said the harm has already been committed, so Bawumia should say something that will give hope to Ghanaians.

“The top hierarchy of the NPP has destroyed the system and the country, and Bawumia must take Ghanaians on a journey that will inspire hope and convince a few people, so he will use this period to put in some measures to address our challenges. We are currently in an abysmal situation, but Bawumia can extricate himself because he was not the one in charge.”
