Two men have been arrested in Sefwi Asawinso, Sefwi Wiawso municipality, for allegedly engaging in homosexuality.
The two young men were apprehended by residents who became suspicious after hearing unusual noise from a fashion designer’s room at Sefwi Asawinso.
They are currently in the grips of the Sefwi Asawinso police command for investigation.
The residents claimed that they caught the two young men having sex after breaking into the room of one of them.
Meanwhile, the chief linguist of the Sefwi Asawinso traditional council, Nana Kyeame Gyesi, said they will perform rites to banish residents who are LGBTQ from the community.
He has also threatened to deal ruthlessly with landlords who rent out their rooms to people suspected to be part of the LGBTQI+ community.
He has also warned residents in the Western North region that the necessary traditional rites would be performed to banish anyone caught in the homosexual act; hence, they should be guided.
Nana Kofi Nkrumah advised his people to ensure such evil and alien acts do not prevail in the communities.
“We will perform some rites to cleanse the community. They have brought a sacrilege to our community. This is evil, and we will not entertain it here. We are also sending this caution to landlords in this community. If you have rented out your rooms to people who engage in such acts, let us know, or else if we investigate and find out that ourselves, we will deal with you ruthlessly,” he said.
