The presidential candidate of Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has promised spare parts dealers that there will be no port duties on spare parts in Ghana if he is elected president.
The candidate was speaking to the traders in the Abossey Okai market last Friday.
According to him, within two years of his reign as president of Ghana, he would have sealed all leakages within the economy, which would not necessitate any duties on spare parts.
The former trade and industry minister admonished the traders to sign a performance contract with him, make him president, and see whether he would implement this bold promise or not.
Aside from this policy, the aspiring president said there was a need to improve the agricultural sector, stressing that the success of the sector is largely dependent on efficient transportation.
He added that Ghana can only have an efficient transport sector when spare parts are cheap and affordable.
This policy, he noted, was in line with his ‘Great Transformational Plan’.
