The Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Nyonkopah Daniels, has raised concerns over the current state of the country despite being 67 years old today.
She said we have come a long way as a people, but we still have more to do.
Comparing Rwanda to Ghana, she said Ghana should have made more strides than Rwanda.
However, that is not the case. She highlighted that the majority of our leaders are corrupt, incompetent, and lack what it takes to transform the country.
She also noted that the majority of citizens are not patriotic, are irresponsible, and not prepared to sacrifice for the country.
She said this while speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.
“Ghana is 67 years old, but we are still where we were. When you go to Rwanda and compare it to Ghana, you will realise that we have a lot more to do as a people. Ghanaians are still struggling to survive. Our leaders must put in measures to address the challenges confronting us.”
She also encouraged Ghanaians to be responsible citizens.
According to her, some people are lazy, and even when you give them jobs, they don’t do them as expected.
“The majority of our leaders are indeed corrupt, but some citizens are also lazy and not prepared to work. So if you are not prepared to work, you have no integrity, and you are not trustworthy and faithful, how do you expect us to move forward? Some young people always complain that there are no jobs available for them to do. But when you give them the opportunity, they will not live up to the expectations given to them.”.
The issue of sanitation, she also lamented, was a challenge for us.
She wondered why we are 67 years old and yet we dump rubbish anyhow and anywhere.
This kind of attitude, she noted, was not the best and will continue to retrogress our country.
