The incumbent Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, has won the parliamentary primary.
In the election which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh won 460 out of the 799 valid votes cast.
Ge defeated his sole contender, Ambassador George Kumi, a former envoy.
Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh who is also the Board Chairman of the Bui Power Authority will represent his constituents in Parliament for the fifth time if he wins the parliamentary election come December 7, 2024.
The Sunyani East constituency was unable to participate in the NPP’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday, January 27, because of internal issues.
However, the Party’s national leadership settled these concerns and postponed the primaries for March 9.
