The Ridge Hospital risk being taken off the national grid over a Ghc42 million debt owed to the Electricity Company of Ghana.
The National Taskforce of the Electricity Company of Ghana has issued a three-day demand notice to the management of the health facility over the debt.
The ECG has therefore asked the facility to settle the GHc42 million debt accrued over a year’s power consumption.
The power provider warned failure to comply with the demand notice will result in consequences for the hospital.
The taskforce visited the hospital where it held a meeting with management.
At the meeting, the management informed the taskforce that they are not responsible for bill payments; instead, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health should handle such payments
Meanwhile, over 90 health facilities are indebted to the ECG.
