Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh defended the energy sector under President Nana Akufo-Addo, stating it is superior to the previous administration led by John Mahama despite the power crisis.
Ghanaians, political parties, and energy experts have urged the government to release a timetable to enable Ghanaians to plan their lives considering the ongoing power outages.
Some communities across the country have been experiencing unannounced power outages.
In view of this, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been advised to release a ‘dumsor’ timetable.
However, the power distributor says there was no need to release a timetable because there was no ‘dumsor’ as perceived by some people.
Reacting to these concerns, Dr. Opoku Prempeh argued that we have seen an improvement compared to the period when the NDC was in power.
He stated categorically that the energy sector under the NPP administration is 300 times better than that of the NDC.
“If you are comparing four years, the NPP administration’s energy sector is 300 times better than that of Mahama.”
The Minister was speaking to journalists at the inauguration of the NPP campaign team in the Ashanti Region.
“I have promised you that I am going to work on it. It is not a work that is a single event, it is a process, and we would continue to work on it for the energy sector to become better.”
“Let those who want the timetable bring it. I don’t know of any timetable because the ECG has said it is not necessary.
Why would someone just wish evil for the country?” he asked.
