A fire outbreak has destroyed several wooden structures in Fite, a suburb in James Town in the Greater Accra Region.
The scene of the fire is just opposite the Fire Academy and Training School.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently at the scene to manage the situation.
Details emerging from the service indicate that several of the structures contained petroleum products.
The service said several petroleum products were pulled out of the structures and debris of the fire, which has accounted for how it has escalated the inferno.
Confirming the incident, Mr. Alex Nartey from the Public Relations Department said frantic efforts are being made to contain the spread of the fire.
The damage caused by the fire, he said, has been extensive.
It remains unclear what caused the fire, but the service says an investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the outbreak.
Affected victims are currently counting their losses.
No casualties or injuries have been recorded.
