The Electoral Commission (EC) has set April 30, 2024, for the by-election in Ejisum.The by-election has become necessary following the death of the MP, John Kumah, on March 7, 2024.
John Kumah died at the age of 46 after a short illness.
He left behind a wife, a wife, and six children.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has April 13, 2024, for its parliamentary primary.
The party has cleared all nine candidates to contest the primary after a vetting exercise on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
The NPP opened nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, and all nine had filed at the time it closed on Thursday, April 4.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is yet to announce a date for its primary.
The EC has pegged the filing fee for the election at GHC10,000.
It will receive nominations from aspiring candidates from April 16 to April 18, 2024.
Interested candidates are to purchase the nomination forms on the official website of the EC starting today, April 9, 2024.
