Political analyst Piesie Anto deems the government’s decision to launch a performance tracker as a beneficial initiative.
The tracker, when launched, is expected to promote transparency and accountability in the current administration’s performance and aid in tracking these projects.
He noted that the tracker will help address longstanding concerns about the accuracy and reliability of projects undertaken by the Nana Addo-led administration.
“It will serve as a reliable mechanism for showcasing the progress and impact of infrastructure projects, thereby instilling trust and confidence among citizens,” he said.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nyankunton Mu nsem on Nyankonton Mu nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he explained that politics is based on development, and that’s what Ghanaians seek before voting for any political party.
Ghanaians are eager to see your achievements and appreciate your investment in their lives and the nation if you demonstrate that you have used the opportunity given to you.
He stressed that the NDC party was able to win power due to their strategies of showcasing their projects through ‘The Green Book’.
He said the party used the book to educate Ghanians on what they did despite the opposition raised and some of the flaws raised by the NPP and other political parties.
The tracker, he added, will afford the political parties to also shape their arguments and try to find flaws in the tracker, adding that it will change the political discussions in our media space.
The tracker will also serve as a guide for politicians, political communicators, and others, irrespective of their affiliations.
Meanwhile, he has also raised concerns over the number of people who would be able to access the tracker, considering the fact that not everyone is technologically inclined.
“The most challenging aspect is how many people will be able to access the tracker, especially with the literacy rate of this country. Most people do not even understand whether there is a tracker or no tracker, so the political parties are the ones challenging themselves.”
“Almost 50%–55% of voters are not paying heed to whether there is a tracker or no tracker, but this is purposely for discussion on the radio and television, and then the ability of the party to fulfil its mandate as a political party to the people makes the performance tracker very necessary,he said.
