A 32-year-old young man has met his untimely death after falling into a well beside a poultry farm at Mmormesobuor near Dormaa Akwamu in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region.
Rainbow Radio gathered that the young man, identified only as Kofi, was after a goat.
Mr. Samuel Agyei, the Station Officer in Charge of Rural Fire at Dormaa Fire Station, confirmed the news on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
He disclosed that the incident occurred on April 8, 2024.
According to him, they received a distress call on the day from the District Police Commander that someone had fallen into the well.
The Fire Service personnel arrived at the scene, but upon arrival, they found the young farmer dead.
The news team was informed that the young man fell into the well at noon.
Mr. Samuel Agyei stated that a heavy storm prevented the young man from visiting the farm on the day of the incident.
After the rains, the farmer went out, and when he arrived at the scene, he learned that a goat had fallen into the well.
He then jumped into the well with the hope of retrieving the goat and using it to cook.
The deceased’s family is unknown, but the young man was not originally from the town but traveled to the area for greener pastures.
He added that the young man was advised against entering the well, and after he went in and slipped, those who were around left, and the incident was reported in the evening, at which time he had died.
The police have since launched an investigation into the matter, and the body has been sent to the mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
“The lifeless body was found in a 40-foot well with a goat, which he couldn’t retrieve, leading to his untimely death. He slipped while entering the well, possibly causing his death.”
