Political analyst Piesie Anto believes that the recently launched performance tracker will finally settle the argument over whether the Nana Addo-led administration has performed poorly or fulfilled the promises it made to Ghanaians.
The analyst stated that the tracker will provide evidence to determine if the government’s claims of achievements are accurate or false.
“The launch of the tracker is required and will resolve the debate. Before taking office, Akufo-Addo-Addo informed us that we did not deserve to be poor or face economic hardship because we had money, and that after years of administering the country, we needed to assess and evaluate their performance.
The tracker was launched and expected to promote transparency and accountability in the current administration’s performance and aid in tracking these projects.
He stated that the tracker will help address longstanding concerns about the accuracy and reliability of projects undertaken by the Nana Addo-led administration.
In an exclusive interview with Nyankunton Mu nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he indicated that it will further assist political opponents in determining if the projects promoted as achievements are real or phoney.
“The tracker will afford the political parties to also shape their arguments and try to find flaws in the tracker. It will change the political discussions in our media space. The tracker will also serve as a guide for politicians, political communicators, and others, irrespective of their affiliations.
He has expressed concerns about the accessibility of the tracker, as not all individuals are technologically inclined.
“The most challenging aspect is how many people will be able to access the tracker, especially with the literacy rate of this country. Most people do not even understand whether there is a tracker or no tracker, so the political parties are the ones challenging themselves.”
“Almost 50% to 55% of voters are not paying heed to whether there is a tracker or no tracker, but this is purposely for discussion on the radio and television, and then the ability of the party to fulfil its mandate as a political party to the people makes the performance tracker very necessary,he said.
