Two people have been reported dead after a group of people attacked the Tema Naval Base of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
The Ghana Armed Forces disclosed this in a statement it issued about the incident.
It extended condolences to the bereaved families.
GAF’s statement warned the public, particularly the youth in the area of the incident, to stop attacking their soldiers or they would respond in an appropriate manner.
The statement further revealed that a crowd participating in a festival at Tema Newtown attacked a vehicle belonging to the Eastern Naval Command of the Ghana Navy at about 7:53 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024.
The vehicle was damaged, and three soldiers of the Navy onboard the vehicle were also wounded.
The three officers were later sent to the Tema Naval Base Medical Centre for treatment.
According to GAF, “three suspects were arrested by the naval personnel. They were subsequently handed over to the Tema Newtown District Police for further investigations.”
