Executive Director of Global Info Analytics Musah Danquah has stated that Ghanaian businessman and politician Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, is making significant gains per the latest polling results they have released.
He opined that somebody who has never been in any poll before and comes in with 2.3 percent should not be treated as a joke.
In analyzing the latest report, he revealed some insights into regional preferences.
In Greater Accra, 73% intend to vote for John Mahama, with a significant 21% for Bawumia and 5% for Alan.
The Central Region shows a closer race, with 51% favouring Mahama and 45% for Bawumia.
He also noted that the study shows some support levels for other candidates.
Nana Kwame Bediako received substantial support from the Eastern Region, particularly in Nkawkaw, while Bawumia garners significant support from the Ashanti Region.
“Close to 30 percent of Bediako votes come from the Eastern Region. Those who said they intend to vote for him, when you put them together nationally, 22% of them are from the Eastern Region, and 17% of them are from the Ashanti Region.
He went on to explain that for Dr. Bawumia, 28% of his votes come from the Ashanti region, 12% come from the come from the Central region, and the Eastern region contributes 13%. And if you come to John Mahama, 28% of his total votes that he’s getting come from the Greater Accra Region, Ashanti 10%, Central 9%, Volta 9%, and Northern Region 8%,” he added.
Touching on Cheddar’s gains, he said, “For somebody who has not been in any polls before, he comes in with 2.3 percent, which is remarkable. That is no joke when you have veterans like Reverend Kwabena Andrews in there, Hassan Ayariga in there, and Kofi Akpaloo is there; the rest are there, and this young entrant is making 2.5 percent; don’t joke with it.”
He told Kwabena Agyapong on the frontlines of Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM that “These young guys are the ones driving the polling numbers. Something intriguing was happening in Nkawkaw. The race there is unpredictable. We picked the sample from Domeabra and Nsuta. In one of the electoral areas, Cheddar was leading. When you examine the electoral areas, these two are the largest, and in one of them, Cheddar was leading. I am not saying he will win in Nkawkaw, but something interesting is happening in Nkawkaw.
The NPP party cannot pretend all is well because if in the big electoral areas of Nkawkaw this is happening and we have these guys doing well, and if that should be replicated throughout the constituency, what else could be happening elsewhere? In Domeabra North, Nana Kwame Bediako has 27 percent. Mahama had 19 percent, Dr. Bawumia 13 percent, Alan polling 23 percent, and GUM had 9 percent,” he said.
If you want, you can also go back there and conduct another poll, and you will see the outcome. You can go back there with your researchers and see what is happening there,” he added.
