The Member of Parliament-elect in the Ejisu by-election, Kwabena Boateng, has reacted to his victory.
The private legal practitioner extended gratitude to the party, particularly its leaders, supporters, voters, volunteers, and others who supported his campaign.
The candidate after the fiercely contested election won by defeating the other five candidates.
He was grateful for the confidence the constituents had in him and his ideas.
He secured 27,782 votes, representing 55.8% of the total votes cast, while Mr. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent candidate, polled 21,534 votes, representing 43.3% of the total votes cast.
The candidate for the Liberal Party, Beatrice Boakye of the Liberal Party, had 140 votes, representing 0.3%, while Esther Osei of the Convention People’s Party received 89 votes, representing 0.2 percent.
Independent candidates Joseph Agyemang and Atakora Joseph had 222 representing 0.2% and 23 representing 0.0%, respectively.
The by-election was organised following the death of Member of Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024.
