Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has clapped back at President Akufo-Addo for claiming that he (Mahama) will destroy his (Nana Addo’s) legacy as the next president.
According to the former president, he had no plans to continue Akufo-Addo’s legacy of corruption, misgovernance, and arrogance.
President Akufo-Addo has asked Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking at a mini-rally in Doboro, he said a vote for Mahama would destroy his legacy.
“I cannot hand it over to the man I defeated or to someone who does not appreciate what I have done or my legacies. I cannot hand it over to such an individual. If Mahama is elected, he will destroy my legacies. I am therefore pleading with you to vote for the person I have worked with for the past seven and a half years. I have faith in him, and I know that he will come and continue the work I have begun. He will work in your interests. You will benefit from whatever he does. He is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
“This is our election year, and the limited registration has started. Anyone who hasn’t registered and is eligible should go and register. This is because your right to vote is your power,” he said on Tuesday, May 7.
Reacting, Mr. Mahama said the president has no legacy to be protected.
He noted that the legacy of Nana Addo is corruption, arrogance, and misgovernance.
He also stated that the record of President Akufo-Addo is that of a bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and poverty.
“Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket,” he stated in a post on X.
