The Electoral Commission (EC) has revised the figures it announced as the total number of persons registered so far in the ongoing limited registration exercise.
The EC admitted it made mistakes in the figures it published over the weekend.
This comes after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) raised concerns over the announced figures.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenged the voter registration figures reported by the Electoral Commission (EC) after day four of the ongoing exercise.
The EC reported that a total of 25,287 voters registered for Day 2.
On Sunday, the EC reported that a total of 143,014 voters have been registered since the exercise started last week.
He claimed that the NDC recorded a lower figure of 19,267.
He has also questioned the EC’s total registration figure of 43,417 for Day 3.
He said the figure the NDC has is 48,616.
In a statement, the EC admitted that it made mistakes in the information it provided.
“The Electoral Commission has noted some mistakes in the daily voter registration figures earlier published.
The mistakes appeared in the total registered figures stated for days two and three, although the individual regional figures were accurate, while the day three figure for the Upper East was repeated for day four. AII, these have been corrected.
The figures in the bar graph for all four days, however, remain the same. At the end of the four days, the total number of registered voters will remain at 143, 014.”
