A 22-year-old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing and burying his two-year-old son.
The suspect has been identified as Kwame Krah.
The incident occurred at Koraso Ward 1, near Berekum in the Bono Region.
Reports suggest that the young man reportedly buried the minor about a month ago.
Our reporter, Nana Kwame, reported from the region on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, saying the minor’s mother sent him to his father, the suspect, to care for him while she went looking for work.
He stated that while the son, Kwame Junior, was with the suspect, he went to leave him with his mother but returned for him following an argument with his mother.
The son is believed to have become ill, but the suspect did not take him to the hospital for treatment, which allegedly contributed to the boy’s death.
He then put the son in a charcoal bag, allegedly burying him, left the area, and went into hiding for a month.
He returned home after going into hiding and later had the mother of the son confront him about the whereabouts of Kwame Junior.
After several attempts to disclose the whereabouts of his son, he confessed that he had killed and buried the boy about a month ago.
It remains unclear what really led to the death of the boy since the suspect has narrated two different situations.
He first confessed that the child got sick and died, and so he buried him, but after he was forced by the youth in the area, he gave another scenario of killing his son and burying him.
It took the intervention of the police to prevent the suspect from being lynched by the angry youth in the area.
The police had to fire warning shots after several appeals to send the suspect to the police station failed.
He is currently in custody, assisting the police in their investigation.
