Ghanaian hip-hop artist Emmanuel Kofi Botwe, known by his stage name Kwaw Kese and popularly called Abodam, says he had wanted to be a lawyer.
The musician said he was a brilliant student while in school, and the dream profession for him was to be a lawyer.
However, he found himself doing music and has not regretted it.
He was speaking with Sokoohemaa Kukua on the Midmorning Show on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.
“You understand that our parents want their children to choose a career that will make them proud. Parents expected their children to be doctors or lawyers, so when I was younger, I wanted to be a lawyer, he explained.
Music, he added, began while he was in school, and he is proud of his accomplishments.
The creative rapper also told the host that he is the one who wrote all his songs.
According to him, no one has ever composed a song for him.
When asked if he was open to such opportunities, he responded positively, indicating he was willing to have people write music for him.
Kwaw Kese is well known for his hit album Abodam 2007, for which he won five awards at the 2008 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.
His major break came when he was featured on Obrafour’s Executioner’s Diary with his ‘Oye Nonsense’ track.
He continued his winning ways by featuring again on Hammer’s ‘Sounds of Our Time’ compilation. This time around, it was ‘Ma Tewo Kwakwa’.
The track made such an impact on the album that it became the favourite of most music lovers. This prepared the way for his debut album, ‘Na Ya Tal’, which was a big hit.
