The ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Research and Elections Officer in Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region, Gideon Luther Amoabeng, has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of busing foreigners from Niger and Benin to register in the ongoing limited registration exercise.

He claimed that these foreigners were brought to the constituency three days ago from Niger and are being bussed to the registration centres to register.

According to him, the party will do everything possible to prevent these foreigners from reregistering since our constitution makes it clear that non-Ghanaians can’t participate in our voting processes.

He called on the Electoral Commission to do the needful by bringing sanity to the registration exercise.

The NPP officer revealed that they have initiated over 200 challenge forms on the matter and will ensure that no foreigner is allowed to participate in the exercise.

On his part, the Deputy Secretary for Awutu Senya East NPP, Eric Amoako, said the party has all the evidence proving that those challenges are foreign.

He added that they will follow through with the issue and make sure that these foreigners are not given the voter card.
