The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, says he has no regrets about joining Freemasonry in Ghana.

The traditional ruler, who also serves as the Grand Patron of the Grand Lodge of Ghana, has expressed his satisfaction with his 25-year membership in Freemasonry.

The Asantehene noted that before joining, he questioned the benefits that it would bring to him, but looking back, he has no regrets.

“Twenty-five years ago, I was initiated into Freemasonry. There is no doubt that in joining a society or club, one cannot help but wonder what benefits or restrictions await,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said.

“In the case of Freemasonry, you are left to worryingly wonder more without knowing exactly what you are going to face and with no one ready to tell you what you want to know.”

“Whatever doubts or reservations might have crossed my mind, all I can say after the 25 years is that I have no regrets about being a Freemason, experiencing what it unfolds and what it means to be called a Freemason,” he stated.

He also pledged to make Freemasonry beneficial to Ghana and its citizens while promoting peace.

He expressed optimism about the future growth of the Grand Lodge, highlighting the importance of dedicated members who will provide relief to the needy and uphold truthfulness.

He further admonished the Grand Lodge to expand its influence beyond its current areas of activity and reach regions that have not yet experienced its initiatives.

He made the remarks at a grand ceremony held at the Sir Agyeman Prempeh II Hall in Kumasi to celebrate the Asantehene’s remarkable 25-year journey in Freemasonry.

The event commenced with a majestic procession of Grand Lodge officers and visiting delegations from around the globe.

Notably, the Asante royals, led by the Otumfuo, graced the hall with their presence, evoking awe among attendees.

MW Bro. Nana Osei Atwene Bonsu, the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ghana, welcomed the esteemed gathering and highlighted Otumfuo’s initiation into Freemasonry 25 years ago at the Osei Tutu Lodge.
