The Electoral Commission (EC) has reversed its directive to prevent political party agents from observing the vote transfer exercise.
The electoral body has come under criticism for issuing the directive to its officials to prevent party agents from observing the ongoing exercise.
The EC attributed the decision to some reported cases of violence in some of the centres.
The opposition National Democratic Congress asked its agents to ignore the directive and still go to the centres to monitor the exercise.
The presidential candidate of the party, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, reacted to the issue, describing it as part of the schemes by the EC to rig the 2024 elections in favour of the ruling government.
But at a press conference on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the EC reversed the directive.
This was announced by the Deputy Commissioner in Charge of Operations at the Electoral Commission, Samuel Tettey.
He explained that the decision to reverse the ban was taken following extensive deliberations.
