Ghanaian politician Stephen Atubiga has expressed worry about how certain employees engage in various tactics to harm the businesses of their bosses.
He decried how some Ghanaian business owners’ assets had been wasted as a result of incompetence and willful theft from their employees.
He stated that some employees, when employed, come in with the intention to steal from you and not to help your business grow.
He was responding to a question on whether he regrets returning to Ghana after his long stay abroad.
In his answer, he said it was one of the best decisions he made.
However, he was quick to point out that one of the major issues is that the system is so rigged that no matter how much money you bring back from outside, the system would take it all from you.
The standard of living in Ghana, he noted, was a challenge, and Ghanaians in the diaspora who want to return home should be guided by this fact.
He said “the system in Ghana would drain the money you made abroad. The system will recycle you and your budget.
The other point is that when you establish a business and employ people, their interest is to find ways to steal from you and destroy your business. They have no interest in helping you expand your business.
The truth is, the best decision I have ever taken in my life is to return home, because even when you travel abroad and return with huge sums of money, the system will recycle everything from you. You can return with lots of money in a rented van; the system will take all the money from you or will suck the money you brought home. That is why some people are unable to come home. No matter the investments you make, you will come across some challenges.
The system will drain you. You will meet challenges. Family, friends, and everybody else will be demanding money from you because you’ve returned from abroad. When the system recycles you, your budget and standard of living may be affected. The bigger your wealth, the bigger your problems and responsibilities.
It will take time for you to start making profits when you invest in any form of business. When you employ people to manage your business, the employee is looking for ways to make money from your business, even on the first day of work. You can establish a business abroad and travel somewhere, and the system will protect your business, and as the owner, you will know what you make. But in Ghana, your manager will dress extravagantly and find ways to steal from you. The customer service is also poor. Some will steal your raw materials.”
The risk for him is that our present generation of children and teenagers is taught that corruption is normal, therefore they must make money at any cost, regardless of the repercussions.
“So the system is already built, and so our children are learning to be corrupt from a tender age.”
He then asserted that the church is now a place for corruption where the gospel is being sold to the highest bidder, and so our children are learning that the only thing important is to make money at all costs.
