The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested ten suspected land guards in Asabaham, Ga South Municipality.
The police also recovered some weapons, including cutlasses and axes.
They were arrested through an intelligence-led operation by the Central East Regional Police on June 6, 2024 at Asabaham.
After their arrest, cutlasses and axes were discovered on them.
The police also seized their Toyota 4Runner, with registration number GW 4420-X.
The suspects have been identified as Ali Razak, 34, a farmer from Atoma; Mohammed Salis, 41, a farmer from Atoma; Mohammed Amin, 30, a farmer from Atoma; Yussif Yakubu, 31, a farmer from Atoma; Manam Mubarak, 30, a farmer from Atoma; Habib Abdullai, 31, a farmer from Atoma; and Samuel Ametrona, 26, a farmer from Atoma.
The rest are Abdul Madid Adam, 35, from Atoma; Iddrissu Yakubu, 30, a farmer from Atoma; Nii Attoh Emmanuel, 42, a commercial driver from Atoma; and Isaac Boadu, 43, a taxi driver from Freetown, Kasoa.
According to the police, on May 23, 2024, the complainant claimed to the Central East Regional Police in Kasoa that Morton City Real Estate owns 49.640 acres of land in Asabaham and sells it to clients for development.
However, in recent months, their clients have been attacked by men from unidentified areas.
They allegedly confiscate workers’ working tools, wield cutlasses and firearms, and threaten them to pay money or leave.
It has emerged that the suspects regularly visit neighborhood areas, including Morton City, to steal tools from developers’ workers, leading to workers fleeing due to intimidation and threats of damage.
