Bawumia should be wary of the dangerous elements who want to be his running mate at all costs – Kwesi Korang

Patriot Ghana, a group affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be wary of those who want to be his running mate at any cost.

Kwesi Korang, the group’s founder and head, claims that certain people will go to any length to be the running mate, and that they will use every political method and plan available to them.

He stated that some people have presidential ambitions and want to be selected as running mates so that they may simply transfer to president when the occasion arises.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Kwesi Korang admonished the presidential candidate of the NPP not to allow anyone to pressure him into naming someone who has no ability to add any value to his ticket.

The delay in naming the running mate, he stressed, was also a major cause for concern.

“The delay in naming the running mate is a challenge. The more he delays, the more it creates tension and challenges for the party. He should name his running mate so the person would support his campaign and the party would put its house in order for full action. But in all of these, we would also caution those who are mounting pressure on the candidate to stop.

We should allow him to mention the name of someone he will be comfortable working with. There are people who are pushing some pressure groups to mention their names so the Vice President will settle on them. I will admonish the candidate to gather the courage to name his running mate.

He should also be careful of those who believe becoming the running mate is a do-or-die affair. They are those who are eager and want to be running mates. He should be wary of them. These individuals are sponsoring groups to have their names mentioned all the time,” he told host Kwabena Agyapong.

He warned the candidate that those who want to be the running mate at all costs have an agenda, and that he should be wary of such individuals because, at the very least, they may become the next president.

He emphasised that such individuals will go to any length to become president, and the Vice President should not engage them.
